1.1 Banjima Education

Information

The objective is to provide assistance and support for Banjima families with the costs towards the education of Banjima people. This program provides the following payments towards, goods and services relating to childcare and primary, secondary, tertiary, vocational education as well as technology equipment required as part of the school curriculum.

What is covered;

  • Uniform/shoes
  • School fees, canteen, boarding
  • Books and stationery
  • Extra-curricular activities out of school hours (excursions, camps, sports etc)
  • Before and after school care
  • Tutorial and assistance
  • Travel
  • Outside of School Support including tutoring, speech therapy, occupational therapy and psychologist
  • Technology (laptop, printer, internet connection etc) (upon proof of requirement).

Allowances

For the period 1 July 2018 to 30 June 2019

 Childcare  $2,500
 Primary School  $2,500
 Secondary School  $2,500
 Tertiary / VET  $5,000
 Outside of School Support  $2,500
 Technology  $5,000

 

Eligibility

To be eligible for this assistance, an applicant must meet beneficiary criteria as follows:

  • A registered Banjima beneficiary
  • A registered Daisy beneficiary
  • Birth Child registered under the above membership.

Please Note:

  • Allowances available are for each adult beneficiary per year, including their children. An adult parent with children may only access the cumulative value of each allowance for themselves and their children
  • Proof of requirement is required for technology i.e. school list/school letter
  • All courses must be studied within Australia, except in the case that members can prove long term residency overseas
  • In order to qualify for future assistance, students must provide evidence of a minimum pass of subjects
  • No allocations of funds can be transferred to another member
  • As per clause 6.7 of the Trust Deed, the Trustee may not provide money or a money equivalent to individual beneficiaries.

How to apply

  1. Download and complete the BCT Education application form (available here).
  2. Provide supporting evidence, such as:
    • Acceptance letter from the educational institution
    • Enrolment letter from the educational institution
    • Proof of requirement is required for technology i.e. school list/school letter
    • Quote or tax invoice (includes the seller’s Australian business number (ABN), what is being requested, its cost (including GST, if any) and date of issue).
  3. Submit application by sending forms and evidence to Member Services by:
  1. You will be contacted by BNTAC with the outcome of your application.
  2. If you are not happy with the outcome, you can appeal a decision.
